Some of you still remember the whole world preparing with uncertainty for New Year's Eve 1999, when due to Year2000 threat computers would fail and the world will get into chaos. Finally, the situation was managed relatively smoothly and now we write year 2011 ... One in such moments fully realizes that the time really goes by faster than we often realize. No wonder that the Bible teaches us to “make the very most of the time" (Ephesians 5, Amplified translation).

In recent years we have embraced the blessed tradition of spending New Year's Eve together in our congregation and on the 31st December 2010 we got together in Kerametal - the biggest number of people so far. I think it’s amazing when we can move into the New Year together as a church. The program was richer than ever and really offered a variety of Christian entertainment and spiritual enjoyment. We started to celebrate with beautiful songs to celebrate our Lord, and after a brief introduction, we opened the creative part of New Year's Eve.

Word of Life has talent

Proven team under the leadership of Martin Hunčár played very illuminating theatrical scene on the fruits of the Spirit. The main characters were Lenka and Tomáš, who played partners - ever impatient wife and ever hungry husband. Finally, their lives got transformed after they saw how our lives really look like in spiritual reality.

For the first time we dared to put a parallel to a famous TV competition known under the name Word of Life has a talent. Single appearances contained songs, conversion of Muslims through television, even a poetry read in Swedish, unexpectedly good appearance of rappers Maťko a Kubko in their famous costumes but with different sheep and new dialogues. Jury and quizmasters were excellent, there is no doubt that believers have a talent, and not only among performers...

Year of preparation and consolidation of God's people

About 23rd hour, we started with another praise & worship and a sermon of pastor Peter Čuřík. Based on the story of 18th chapter of Genesis about promise of a son, that Abraham and Sara received, we are again reminded ourselves that "nothing will be impossible for the Lord," or that not nothing will be "too hard" for Him or "too beautiful" as long as it is in accordance with His Word. At the world championships in football, although T-shirts with religious inscriptions such as "I belong to Jesus” were banned, God has found another way to make Himself known to the masses, He kept alive 33 Chilean miners for 69 days, 700 meters underground. They – in live broadcast watched by around one billion world's population – went out of a safety probe Phoenix with T-shirts with the inscription: "All honour and glory belongs to God!" or with Psalm 95:4, which says, "in His hands are the deep places of the earth' To be able to experience such a manifestation of divine power, we need to stand in the place where God put us and we need to seize His promises by faith. Isaac, who will be born, will not only be a blessing for us, but as the Scripture says: "Therefore from one man, and him as good as dead, were born as many as the stars of the sky in multitude-innumerable as the sand which is by the seashore" (Hebrews 11:12, NKJV).

God spoke to us about 2011, that it will be a year of preparation and consolidation of God's people, so we could enter into all He prepared for the end-time. Exciting time awaits us! In the Communion, we again made an important decisions, may  the Lord give us grace to be faithful in the resolutions of our hearts also in 2011.
