We are called to do good

We live in a very hasty time. In addition to the household we must manage ever-increasing demands at work. People are overwhelmed and focused on themselves. This trend is also trying to break into the Church of Jesus Christ. If we are not careful, then we’ll fall into it very easy.  We’d not even realize how quickly our hearts will harden and we’ll stop to get interested about the world around us. Jesus predicted that in the last days the love of many will grow cold. But God's plan for church of last days is different. He wants His church to be like a city on the hill. His will is that "people see our good works and glorify our Father in heaven." The best example of such a life is our Lord. Scripture says about Him in the Book of Acts: "... how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth by the Holy Spirit and the power, who went doing good and healed all demon possessed, because God was with Him." (Acts10:38). Elsewhere we read that "because of the joy that was set before him, He endured the cross despising the shame." Christ didn’t look for His own interests, but was doing good. His happiness and joy was to bless others. His motto was: "It’s more blessed to give than to receive." When he raised the widow's son at Nain, He was probably filled with more joy than the widow. Even when he suffered on the cross, He cared for his mother and gave her to John. Jesus gave his life for doing good. First of all, it was not about social good, but about the salvation of souls and healing the sick. However, all works that Jesus did, He did not do by Himself. Scripture says that Jesus could do good because he was anointed with the power of the Holy Spirit. Therefore, if we have to follow His example, we need to be constantly being filled up with the Holy Spirit. Then doing good will not be a burden or yoke for us but a joy and fulfilment. Exactly, as it was in the life of our Master.
